Who we are
Motara is a customer communication platform for automotive dealerships, operated by Natari [legal entity name], [address], Canada ("we", "us"). Dealerships use Motara to manage text message conversations, marketing campaigns, and customer records.
Two kinds of people use or are recorded in Motara
Dealership staff hold accounts with us directly. Dealership customers do not: their information is provided to us by the dealership they do business with, which remains responsible for having the authority and consent to share it. For customer data we act as a service provider to the dealership.
What we collect
For staff accounts: name, email, password hash, and activity within the product. For dealership customers: contact details (name, phone, email), vehicle and purchase information the dealership holds, message history with the dealership, website activity on the dealership's own site where its tracking snippet is installed, and communication preferences including opt-outs.
How we use it
To deliver the service the dealership has engaged us for: sending and receiving text messages (including AI-assisted replies sent on the dealership's behalf), routing qualified leads into the dealership's CRM, and reporting. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use one dealership's customer data for any other dealership's benefit.
Text messaging consent and opt-out
Marketing texts are sent on the basis of consent collected by the dealership (CASL). Every recipient can opt out at any time by replying STOP; opt-outs take effect immediately, are recorded on a suppression list, and are honoured by every send path in the product.
Where data lives and how long
Data is hosted in Canada (Montreal region) with our infrastructure providers [list: e.g. Vercel, Supabase, Twilio, OpenAI via gateway, Resend, Upstash]. We retain data for as long as the dealership maintains its account, and delete or return it on termination within [X days].
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may request access to or correction of your personal information. Dealership customers should contact their dealership first, as it controls the relationship; you can also reach us at [privacy contact email] and we will assist or forward the request.
